Alia Bhatt appealed to her fans to support Assam flood relief in an Instagram Stories post shared on Wednesday.
“It happens every year and it still catches us off guard,” she wrote, referencing the recurring pattern of monsoon flooding in the state.
She added, “Assam needs immediate relief right now, and it’ll need support for the long road to recovery,” pointing to both urgent and longer-term needs.
The floods have killed more than 60 people, a toll the Assam State Disaster Management Authority has since revised to 75.
Around 4.45 lakh people across 631 villages have been affected, with many families losing their homes, land and livestock.
Bhatt said she would use the coming days to highlight relief organisations working on the ground, using the hashtag #CircleOfHope.
Her appeal follows those of other Bollywood figures, including Salman Khan, whose Being Human foundation has launched a multi-phase relief effort supplying food and essentials.
Bhumi Pednekar has also backed the cause, while Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap have contributed to the Assam Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
Rescue and relief operations remain ongoing across the flood-hit parts of the state.

The Assam floods have become an annual monsoon crisis in the state, with rivers including the Brahmaputra regularly breaching embankments and displacing large numbers of families across low-lying districts.
