Sony Pictures has signed on to handle the international distribution of Ramayana outside India, following an agreement with Prime Focus Studios.

The mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with a score from Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.

Prime Focus Studios founder Namit Malhotra called the deal a historic moment for the film. The trailer launch has been postponed following the announcement.

The film will release in several languages internationally, including a premium English-language version, as part of a wide global rollout.

Distribution within India will be managed separately by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
